ABOUT ME
As a fellow at ESO I study black holes and neutron stars in X-ray binaries. I use the optical and near-infrared telescopes of the Paranal, Palomar and Keck observatories to observe ultraluminous X-ray sources (ULXs), the most extreme X-ray binaries in the Universe, as well as Galactic X-ray binaries.

I'm originally from the Netherlands, where I obtained my Bachelors and Masters degrees (both from Utrecht University). I did my PhD research at SRON Netherlands Institute for Space Research in Utrecht with Peter Jonker and obtained my degree from the Radboud University Nijmegen in December 2015. From 2016-2019, I was a postdoc at Caltech in the NuSTAR group of Prof. Fiona Harrison.
